New Year "Mini" Reunion

Deena & Winston are here from Vegas for the holidays, and have decided to have impromptu "mini" reunions!

The first was held on Dec. 27 @ the Shack in Mililani. Due to weather and time, not many showed up. So, Dee wants to go at it again and has sent out a mass email. Here are the details...

Hey LHS '86 Classmates!

Let me reintroduce myself...you can go check who me in da yearbook afta.
I'm Deena Mendoza. Born and raised in Wahiawa (Wahiawa Elem, Wahiawa Inter., and Leilehua). I was there all through my life until my recent divorce...yes, I got divorced. I moved to Las Vegas early September 2008. Anything else...come meet up with us.

Anyway, I am so taking a chance of trying to make this happen. I know that it is short notice, but why not? I thought that since me and Winston Fernandez are here on vacation, we wanted to get together, small kine???

This past Saturday, I had texted what few peoples phone numbers that I had to meet up.
MUCH MAHALOS to Sandie (Rivera), Jana Eligado, and Wallyn Christian for showing up. We met up at 8pm at The Shack in Mililani and stayed til closing 2am. Although only had us (others couldn't make it)...I thought that we had a GREAT time!

Now we'd like do this again. Winston leaves Sunday, 1/4 and I leave later in the week. Please forward this to anyone else. Also, please reply to this to update addresses (phone numbers, too) and to add addresses to our contact list.
I know that they close early, so no excuse about staying out late. But if get choke people that like hang out longer, I'm sure that we can move the party somewhere else?
Please (NO SHAME) call me if you can or can not make it #(808) 351-5702.

Aloha!
Deena Mendoza
Email your confirmation to us so it can be forwarded to Dee (who happens to be part of the ad-hoc reunion committee) and stay informed!

Updating Contact Information

This is a call to all 1986 graduates & classmates to submit contact information so as to receive updates about reunions as well as a planned monthly newsletter. Email is preferred (less expensive), but the committee will try to accommodate those who request snail-mail.

Calling for Volunteers for Reunion Committee

A Reunion Committee is being formed specifically to handle the planning, organization and implementation of the c/o 1986 25th reunion. Spearheading the cause is Lessie (Boyette) Mitch, who has volunteered her home for the first meeting taking place November 15, 2008 at 3pm. Light pupus and non-alcoholic drinks will be served.

Discussion will focus on forming a formal committe, then on toward issues related to the 25th Reunion. Most classmates polled are in favor of a week-long stay in Las Vegas, however the reality may have it only for 3 or 4 days - a "...long weekend of remembering and fun!" as told by Lessie. "However there is a lot to do to just get this going," she continues, "so volunteers are needed."

Anyone wishing to show up for the meeting and volunteer for a more permanent Reunion Committee are asked to contact the committee at leilehua1986reunion@gmail.com. Contact information and directions to Lessie's home in Whitmore will follow. Classmates living in Vegas are also welcome to volunteer as contacts in the party-city will be needed to ensure an enjoyable reunion.

The 25th Reunion will be held in 2011. Dates, venues, travel and other arrangements will be worked out through the committee.

Possible Venues for 25th Reunion (2011)

In earlier posts there was talk of making a Vegas Reunion. Lots of excitement, but no real planning commenced, and communications dwindled as the overall economy of the state, and the nation, plunged.

That still doesn't mean we cannot go forward with planning the reunion.

So it up again, the topic of venue and activities.

Recent ideas suggested for the 25th include:
* Boat Cruise (Island or Alaskan?)
* Vegas Weekend (or week?)
* Weekend @ some Hawaii resort (Disney is supposed to open in 2011)
* Repeat of Rumors & Beach parties

Lessie (Boyette) Mitch has offered to steer the committee for the 25th reunion and will be organizing an initial planning session for mid-November at her home in Whitmore. Anyone interested in volunteering their time to this committee are asked to send an email to leilehua1986reunion@gmail.com with contact information and Lessie will get in touch.
