Kalua Pig Sale

The committee's first official fundraiser is a special treat! We are selling Kalua Pork from Kainoa's in Haleiwa at $6.00 per 12oz. container. Yummy!



The above is a view of the receipt for the fundraiser. There will be no pick-up at Kainoa's, so if you are ordering, please make delivery arrangements with whomever you purchase from. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for reserving venues, purchasing supplies & materials related to the scheduled events, and other necessities for arranging this reunion. This fundraiser is NOT for travel arrangements, hotel or rental car reservations.

A newsletter will be sent out to people on the mailing list, but there are still so many classmates we cannot locate. Please, tell your fellow 1986 grads to send in their information to get updates, newsletters and to participate! Even if they are not going, every classmate can still participate!

7:30pm meeting called to order by Hoku

PSA (Public Service Announcement)


Will end at the end of June. Radio stations the PSA runs on: KRTR, KINE, KCCN, KKNE (AM), and Power104
PSA will start again in August of 2010 (one year mark for reunion) - mentioning that classmates should call the LHS ofice and leave contact info.

Vacations Hawaii package for Hawaii Travelers


ESTIMATE $750/person - includes air, room, food... NO rental car)
Deadline for registering for this package is April 1, 2011
--Deposit of $75.00 per ticket is required to reserve spot
--Who pay to will be announced at a future date
--Deadline for pay-off is July (exact date TBA)

Mailing List


Less gave Hoku the info from email list to create a "master" list of classmate contact info. Less will also gather email info from Facebook resource

Banners


Attending committee members voted and agreed upon a banner design for hanging at Tamura's & Aloha Termite.
Attending committee members also voted and agreed that Lessie should use PayPal donations Lessie is holding for payment of the Banners.

--Estimated banner cost (2' x 6' banners - 2 each) is $50.00

Tee Shirts


Attending committee members picked out 2 shirt designs which will be posted as a poll for classmates to vote on. The poll will be posted to this blog and announced via email, Facebook & Myspace announcements. Voting particulars will be tallied at the end of July. The winning tee will be avialable EXCLUSIVELY to reunion attendees. Other similar designs commemorating the 25th year after our graduation will be available for individual sale on CafePress (links will be provided later) as a fundraising venue.
Additional design idea is in the works.


Party Favors


Renee purposed party favors which was approved. Lessie to provide artwork which will be screened onto party favor. Items will be shipped directly from manufacturer to Deena (in Vegas).


Fundraising


ANY AND ALL FUNDS RAISED BY THIS COMMITTE IS FOR THE USE OF RESERVING AND PAYING FOR THE REUNION EVENTS TAKING PLACE ON AUGUST 26, 27, 28 OF 2011 AS WELL AS TO PAY FOR ANY AND ALL MATERIALS RELATED TO EVENTS HELD ON THOSE DAYS - FUNDRAISERS ARE NOT BEING USED TO PAY FOR ANY TRAVEL, HOTEL, CAR RENTAL. Classmates should be prepared to pay for their own travel, hotel, daily food & car rental if they so desire. If attending classmates wish to participate in other entertainment, shows or events while staying in Vegas, they will pay for their own activities.

Flyers


Lessie to design flyer(s) and email printable PDF to committee members (or anyone else interested) for posting and distriution. PDF flyers will also be linked to from list on Blog site (pending)


Video resentation / DVD


Classmates are asked to email images, ideas, momentos to leilehua1986reunion@gmail.com and NOT post them on Facebook or other photo hosting sites. The video presentation is to be a special momento.
The video presentation will be something to reflect on our years at Leilehua, as well as to commemerate our trials, tribulations, successes and joys through the years up to this point.
Lessie is producing the video and providing the DVDs at her own cost. The video is scheduled to run during the formal banquet and will be about 15 - 30 minutes long. Other additional features will be on the DVD - depending on what exactly is submitted.
A DVD will be available to each attending classmate for no additional charge. Classmates who do not attend can request a DVD, but may have to pay for postage.

CALLING ALL c/o'86 MULES!

Howzit everyone! Our 25th reunion is NEXT YEAR! Wow - how time flies, yeah?

So, we need to really get on the ball and coordinate our efforts! A lot of us are on Facebook and have a group there to get discussing things.

  • There are message boards, ideas being spun, and of course, all of US, your classmates (or a growing number of us anyways).
  • Joining FB is FREE! So what's stopping you?
We have classmates living in Vegas, and that is the de-facto venue for our 25th. Resources, organization, and planning is what we need to do NOW to help save costs later!

Update

Hau'oli makahiki hou!

Its been one wacky year full of distractions that kept us from thinking about our upcoming reunion. The economy didn't help much, nor did the many layoffs, foreclosures and insecurity of the nation as a whole. But we all somehow made it through 2009, and the first decade of this new millennium. We deserve some honi!

2011 will be our 25th year out of high school - and the reunion buzz is starting up once again. Many of us are on Facebook.com and are in various alum groups - I invite everyone who reads this to join in ONE group. Organized by our classmate Wallyn K Christian, we can all post there and communicate what we want.

Of note, the general consesus is for a Vegas reunion. Shoots! But when, how much, and where? That is what we need to discuss and get rolling! Mainland & Hawaii classmates spread the word!
